Description
The Patched Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor Patched protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of Patched in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on Patched.

Function
Acts as a receptor for sonic hedgehog (SHH), indian hedgehog (IHH) and desert hedgehog (DHH) . Associates with the smoothened protein (SMO) to transduce the hedgehog's proteins signal. Seems to have a tumor suppressor function, as inactivation of this protein is probably a necessary, if not sufficient step for tumorigenesis.
