P21 Cip1 Colorimetric Cell-Based ELISA Kit

  • Description:

The p21 Cip1 Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor p21 Cip1 protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of p21 Cip1 in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on p21 Cip1.
  • Synonyms:

    Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 1; CDK-interacting protein 1; Melanoma differentiation-associated protein 6; MDA-6; p21; CDKN1A; CAP20, CDKN1, CIP1, MDA6, PIC1, SDI1, WAF1
  • Gene Name:

    CDKN1A
  • UniProt:

    P38936
  • Reactivity:

    Human, Mouse, Rat
  • Tissue Specificity:

Expressed in all adult tissues, with 5-fold lower levels observed in the brain.
  • Applications:

    ELISA
  • Detection Range:

    > 5000 cells/well
  • Function:

May be involved in p53/TP53 mediated inhibition of cellular proliferation in response to DNA damage. Binds to and inhibits cyclin-dependent kinase activity, preventing phosphorylation of critical cyclin-dependent kinase substrates and blocking cell cycle progression. Functions in the nuclear localization and assembly of cyclin D-CDK4 complex and promotes its kinase activity towards RB1. At higher stoichiometric ratios, inhibits the kinase activity of the cyclin D-CDK4 complex. Inhibits DNA synthesis by DNA polymerase delta by competing with POLD3 for PCNA binding (PubMed:11595739) .
