HspA9 is located on chromosome 5, band q31, a region thatis often deleted in myeloid leukemias and myelodysplasia, making it a candidate tumor suppressor gene. HspA9 suppresses nuclear translocation, transcriptional activation, and control centrosome-duplication functions of p53.
