  ClpPmodulator-1 (Compound BC8a) is a peptide mimic functioning as an allosteric ClpP modulator. At low concentrations, ClpPmodulator-1 acts as a ClpP activator, with EC50 values of 0.35 ?M for Neisseria meningitides ClpP (NmClpP) and 0.58 ?M for Escherichia coli ClpP (EcClpP) . At higher concentrations, it inhibits peptidase activity by competitively blocking substrate protein (LY-AMC) binding to the ClpPC site. ClpPmodulator-1 exhibits antibacterial properties and is applicable in bacterial infection research.
