Lactogen, placental

  • Description:

Recombinant ovine placental lactogen, one polypeptide chain containing 199 amino and an additional Ala at N-terminus acids and having a molecular mass of ~ 23 kDa, was purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques (see Sakal et al. J. Endocrinology (1997), 152, 317-327. Ovine PL is also capable of activating human and other heterologous GH receptors but not ruminat GH receptors.
  • Synonyms:

Chorionic somatomammotropin hormone, Placental lactogen (PL)
  • NCBI Gene ID:

  • Assay Protocol:

It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized oPL in sterile water or 0.4% NaHCO3 adjusted tp pH 8-9, not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions, preferably in presence of carrier protein.
  • Endotoxin:

    < 0.1 ng/µg of protein (< 1EU/µg)
  • Purity:

    > 99.0% as determined by Gel filtration and SDS-PAGE gel.
  • Bioactivity:

Recombinant oPL is fully biologically active as evidenced by inducing proliferation of Nb2 cells.
