PG-PS is a complex composed of streptococcal cell wall peptidoglycans and polysaccharides with pro-inflammatory and arthritis-inducing activity. PG-PS can be used to establish arthritis models. PG-PS can cause inflammation and joint damage, increase the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α and IL-1β), and disrupt cellular redox balance[1][2].
