Human Fibroblast Growth Factor-9 Recombinant
Background:
FGF-9 is an autocrine and paracrine prostatic growth factor expressed by prostatic stromal cells. FGF-9 induces osteoblast proliferation and new bone formation in a bone organ assay. FGF-9 is produced by many prostate cancer cells and contributes to prostate cancer-induced new bone formation and may participate in the osteoblastic progression of prostate cancer in bone. It is also an autocrine and/or paracrine neurotrophic factor that promotes the survival of motoneurons and upregulates choline acetyl-transferase activity. FGF-9 enhances survival of AChE-positive neurons, increasing their mean soma size. It also up-regulates their choline acetyltransferase activity as potently as NGF and the effect is greater than that elicited by bFGF, CNTF, or GDNF. FGF-9 acts as a survival factor for neurons but does not promote neurite outgrowth. FGF-9 has been shown to mediate its effects by binding to FGF receptors. It efficiently activates the FGFR2c splice form of FGFR2 and the FGFR3b and FGFR3c splice isoforms of FGFR3.Description:
Recombinant Fibroblast Growth Factor-9 is a disulfide-linked monomer protein consisting of 208 amino acid residues, and migrates as an approximately 23 kDa protein under non-reducing and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE.UniProt:
P31371Endotoxin:
< 0.1 ng/µg (1 EU/µg), using the LAL gel clot method.Purity:
≥ 95% by SDS-PAGE and HPLCFormat:
Lyophilized proteinReconstitution:
Reconstitute at 0.1-1.0 mg/ml in distilled water. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers. To maximize product collection from vial surface, vortex briefly and then spin down to recollect the liquid.Shipping Conditions:
Gel Packs or Dry IceStorage Conditions:
The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt when stored at -20°C. Upon reconstitution, store in working aliquots at +4°C for up to one month, or at -20°C for up to six months, in the presence of a carrier protein. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.Calculated Molecular Weight:
23 kDaFormulation:
Lyophilized from 0.2 µm filtered PBS solution.
