Description
The SMG7 Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor SMG7 protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of SMG7 in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on SMG7.
Synonyms
Protein SMG7; EST1-like protein C; SMG-7 homolog; hSMG-7; SMG7; C1orf16, EST1C, KIAA0250
Gene Name
SMG7
UniProt
Q92540
Reactivity
Human
Applications
ELISA
Detection Range
> 5000 cells/well
Function
Plays a role in nonsense-mediated mRNA decay. Recruits UPF1 to cytoplasmic mRNA decay bodies. Together with SMG5 is thought to provide a link to the mRNA degradation machinery involving exonucleolytic pathways, and to serve as an adapter for UPF1 to protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A), thereby triggering UPF1 dephosphorylation.
