The eEF2K Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor eEF2K protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of eEF2K in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on eEF2K.

Function
Threonine kinase that regulates protein synthesis by controlling the rate of peptide chain elongation. Upon activation by a variety of upstream kinases including AMPK or TRPM7, phosphorylates the elongation factor EEF2 at a single site, renders it unable to bind ribosomes and thus inactive. In turn, the rate of protein synthesis is reduced.
