12 (R) -HEPE is a monohydroxy fatty acid derived from eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), originally identified in sea urchin (S. purpuratus) eggs. Its biological activity is suggested to be analogous to that of 12 (R) -HETE, making it a compound of interest for research in inflammation and lipid mediator pathways in both in vitro and in vivo experimental models.
