  Auristatin E (AE) is a fully synthetic, highly potent antimitotic pentapeptide and a structural analog of dolastatin-10. It inhibits microtubule polymerization, leading to mitotic arrest at the G2/M phase and subsequent apoptotic cell death in tumor cells.
