Assay Principle
Tryptone, polypeptone and yeast extract powder provide nitrogen, vitamins and growth factors; sodium chloride to maintain osmotic equilibrium; lactose to fermentable sugars; the 3rd bile suppress gram-positive bacteria; agar as medium coagulant; Rose acid and aniline blue as a pH indicator. Formulation (per liter) : Tryptone 10g Polypeptone 5g Yeast extract powder 3g Sodium chloride 5g Lactose 12.5g The 3rd bile 1.5g Agar 15g Rose Acid 0.1g Aniline Blue 0.1g Final pH7.4 ± 0.2 How to use: 1.Suspend 52.2g in 1 L of distilled water , stirring heated to boiling until completely dissolved, dispensing flask, 121 °C autoclave for 15min. 2.Diluted and treated samples.
Storage Conditions
Keep container tightly closed, store in a cool, dry place, away from bright light. Storage period of 3 years.
Recommended Usage
For testing of fecal coliform in the water with filter membrane method.
