Carboxypeptidase B2 Protein, Human, Recombinant (His Tag)
Background:
Carboxypeptidase B2, also known as Carboxypeptidase U, Thrombin-activable fibrinolysis inhibitor, Plasma carboxypeptidase B, CPB2, is a secreted protein which belongs to the peptidase M14 family. Carboxypeptidases are enzymes that hydrolyze C-terminal peptide bonds. The carboxypeptidase family includes metallo-, serine, and cysteine carboxypeptidases. According to their substrate specificity, these enzymes are referred to as carboxypeptidase A (cleaving aliphatic residues) or carboxypeptidase B (cleaving basic amino residues) . CPB2 is activated by thrombin and acts on carboxypeptidase B substrates. After thrombin activation, the mature protein downregulates fibrinolysis. CPB2 is synthesized by the liver and circulates in the plasma as a plasminogen-bound zymogen. When it is activated by proteolysis at residue Arg92 by the thrombin / thrombomodulin complex. CPB2 cleaves C-terminal arginine or lysine residues from biologically active peptides such as kinins or anaphylatoxins in the circulation thereby regulating their activities. CPB2 exhibits carboxypeptidase activity and activated CPB2 reduces fibrinolysis by removing the fibrin C-terminal residues that are important for the binding and activation of plasminogen.Synonyms:

At Leading Biology, the biological activity of a recombinant protein is routinely measured using a bioassay, e.g. chemotaxis or cell proliferation assay, enzyme assay, or a functional ELISA. When a recombinant protein is an enzyme, specific activity is derived from an enzymatic assay. Each enzyme is tested for potency by cleavage of a substrate. We are in the process of updating the biological activity data. If you have any questions regarding this update, please feel free to contact our technical support team.Form:
LyophilizedBuffer:
Lyophilized from sterile PBS, pH 7.4. Please contact us for any concerns or special requirements. Normally 5 % - 8 % trehalose, mannitol and 0.01% Tween 80 are added as protectants before lyophilization. Please refer to the specific buffer information in the hard copy of CoA.Function:
Enzyme ProteinsMolecular Weight:
The recombinant human CPB2 consists of 412 amino acids and predictes a molecular mass of 47.4 kDa. In SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions, the apparent molecular mass of rhCPB2 is approximately 45-50 kDa due to glycosylation.Storage Conditions:
In general, recombinant proteins are provided as lyophilized powder which are shipped at ambient temperature. Bulk packages of recombinant proteins are provided as frozen liquid. They are shipped out with blue ice unless customers require otherwise. Stable for 1 year at -20°C or below from date of shipment. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and opening the cap. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C or below. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.Symbol:
