BAY-85-8501 is a highly potent and selective inhibitor of Human Neutrophil Elastase (HNE), exhibiting an IC50 of 65 pM. Its (R) -enantiomer is the less active form. This compound is a valuable research tool for investigating HNE's role in inflammatory and respiratory diseases, such as COPD and bronchiectasis, in both in vitro and in vivo models.
