Description
Acetohexamide is a first-generation sulfonylurea antidiabetic agent that acts by inhibiting the SUR1/KIR6.2 pancreatic KATP channel. It is metabolized to its active form, hydroxyhexamide, and is used in research to study insulin secretion mechanisms and diabetes pathophysiology in both in vitro and in vivo experimental models.
