6-Aminonicotinamide (6-AN) is a potent inhibitor of NADP+-dependent enzymes, notably 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase. It is widely used in research to model the pentose phosphate pathway inhibition in studies of cancer metabolism, neurodegeneration, and ischemic injury, both in vitro and in vivo.
