Octreotide is a longer acting synthetic octapeptide analog of the naturally occurring hormone somatostatin. It inhibits the secretion of gastro-entero-pancreatic peptide hormones and the release of growth hormones. Melacini et al. studied the conformation of the peptide in solution by NMR.
