Rabbit anti Human C2
- Background: The reactivity of the antiserum is restricted to native and activated C2. In immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion, using various antiserum concentrations against Human plasma a single precipitin line is obtained and shows a reaction of full identity with the purified immunogen. In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and single and double radial immunodiffusion (Mancini, Ouchterlony) to identify the presence of C2 or to determine its concentration. The presence of non-precipitating antibodies has not been assayed. This does not exclude the use of the antiserum in non-precipitating antibody-binding techniques if proper controls are included.
- CAS Number: 9007-83-4
- UniProt: P06681
- Host: Rabbit
- Clone: Polyclonal
- Source: The C2 component of Human complement is a single-chain polypeptide with a molecular weight of 110,000. It is present in plasma in an average concentration of 25 μg/mL. The activated form of C2 combines with the activated C4 to form a complex with C3-convertase activity in the classical pathway of complement activation. C2 is isolated as a homogenous protein for use in the antiserum production. Freund’s complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.
- Assay Principle: Precipitation assays. In immunoelectrophoresis in agarose-plates use 2 μl Human plasma or equivalent against 120 μl antiserum. In double radial immunodiffusion use a rosette arrangement with 10 μl antiserum in 3 mm diameter center well and 2 μl plasma samples (neat and serially diluted) in 2 mm diameter peripheral wells.
- Form: Delipidated, heat inactivated, lyophilized, stable IgG fraction; No preservative added; The IgG concentration is 4 mg/mL in PBS-EDTA; No foreign proteins added; Reconstitute the lyophilized antiserum by adding 1 mL sterile distilled water
- Precautions: This product is intended FOR RESEARCH USE ONLY, and FOR TESTS IN VITRO, not for use in diagnostic or therapeutic procedures involving Humans or animals. This datasheet is as accurate as reasonably achievable, but Nordic-MUbio accepts no liability for any inaccuracies or omissions in this information.
- Storage Conditions: The lyophilized antiserum is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at +4°C; prolonged storage at or below -20°C; Dilutions may be prepared by adding phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2); Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided; If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation; It will not affect the performance of the antiserum Diluted antiserum should be stored at +4°C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day
