• Specificity: This antibody recognizes alpha catenin and binds to the domain between amino acids 135-226. alpha-catenin associates with the cytoplasmic domain of a variety of plasma membrane spanning cadherins that mediate cell-cell adhesion. The association of catenins to cadherins produces a complex that is linked to the actin filament network, which seems to be of primary importance for their cell-adhesion properties.
