P38 alpha MAPK Antibody, Clone 9F12: ATTO 488

  • Background:

P38 MAPK (also known as SAPK2α) is a stress-activated kinase that orchestrates cellular responses to inflammatory and oxidative stimuli. It is activated by phosphorylation in response to diverse stressors, including hydrogen peroxide, cytokines, UV light, and chemotherapeutic agents. In neurons, p38 MAPK regulates apoptosis, synaptic remodeling, and inflammatory gene expression. Its activation leads to mitochondrial cytochrome c release and caspase-3 activation, contributing to neurodegeneration. Elevated p38 MAPK activity has been observed in Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple sclerosis. Given its central role in stress signaling and cell death, p38 MAPK is a validated target for therapeutic intervention in neurodegenerative and inflammatory CNS disorders.
