Signaling inhibits adenylate cyclase activity. Serotonin 5-ht1E receptors are primarily located in the frontal cortex, caudate putamen, claustrum, hippocampus, and amygdala. The human 5-ht1E receptor gene has been localized to chromosome 6 (6q14-q15) ; the receptor is closely related to the serotonin 5-HT1F receptor.
