Description
Candesartan is an oral angiotensin II receptor blocker (IC50 values are 1.12 and 2.86 nM in bovine adrenal cortex and rabbit aorta, respectively). It is available as a pro-drug, candesartan cilexetil, which undergoes hydrolysis in the gastrointestinal tract during absorption to its active form. Displays antihypertensive effects in animal models.
