MPEG-Mal (MW 5000) (mPEG-Maleimide (MW 5000) ) is a PEG derivative and a thiol-specific chemical modification reagent. mPEG-Mal (MW 5000) can react with free cysteines in proteins, increasing the apparent molecular weight of the modified protein by 10-15 kDa to facilitate detection . mPEG-Mal (MW 5000) can also be used in research related to drug delivery to improve the stability and activity of drugs[1][2].
