The core histones are H2A, H2B, H3 and H4, whereas histones H1/H5 are identified as the linker histones. Moreover the dynamics of chromatin structure depend on posttranslational modification of histones in addition to the appearance of different histone variants. Histone H3 as well as H4 are modified covalently at several residues.   Greater than 80.0% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
