The iRGD peptide initially binds to αv-integrins and undergoes proteolytic cleavage within tumors to produce CRGDK/R, which interacts with neuropilin-1, thereby facilitating tumor targeting and penetration. DSPE-PEG1000-iRGD is useful for drug delivery applications.
