Acting as an immune mediator, 2-5A pentasodium enhances the activity of RNase L. It degrades viral mRNA and inhibits protein synthesis by binding to RNase L and activating its ribonuclease function. This compound is useful in research related to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and cancer.
