  Tigemonam is an orally administered monocyclic ?-lactam antibiotic effective at inhibiting many bacterial strains at concentrations of 1 microgram/ml or lower. It targets Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter aerogenes, Citrobacter diversus, Proteus spp., Providencia spp., Aeromonas hydrophila, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Serratia marcescens, and Yersinia enterocolitica.
