Assay Principle
Peptone and yeast extract powder provide nitrogen, vitamins as growth factors; sodium chloride to maintain osmotic equilibrium; bacterial hydrolysis esculin ferric ammonium citrate and iron ions to form 6,7-hydroxycoumarin black; lemon sodium, cattle bile salts and sodium azide as a bacteriostatic agent selectively inhibit non streptococcus bacteria; agar medium as coagulant. Formulation (per liter) : Peptone 20g Yeast extract powder 5g No. 3 bile salts 10g NaCl 5g Sodium citrate 1g Esculin 1g Ferric ammonium citrate 0.5g Sodium azide 0.25g Agar 15g Final pH 7.2 ± 0.2
Storage Conditions
Keep container tightly closed, store in a cool, dry place, away from bright light. Storage period of 3 years.
