It has bee isolated from Panax japonicus var. major and Breynia fruticosa. It has a role as a plant metabolite. It is a beta-D-glucoside, a steroid saponin and a monosaccharide derivative. It is functionally related to a sitosterol. It derives from a hydride of a stigmastane.
