Description
OptiPrep™ is a sterile, endotoxin-tested density gradient medium composed of 60% (w/v) iodixanol in water. It is designed for high-resolution separation and purification of biological particles using density gradient centrifugation. Due to its non-ionic nature, low viscosity and iso-osmotic properties, OptiPrep™ provides gentle separation conditions suitable for sensitive biological samples including cells, viruses, subcellular organelles, membranes, extracellular vesicles and macromolecules. OptiPrep™ is widely used in molecular biology, virology, cell biology and biomedical research laboratories requiring reliable density-based fractionation workflows.
Specifications
OptiPrep™ is supplied as a ready-to-use sterile solution containing 60% (w/v) iodixanol in water. The product has a density of 1.320 ± 0.001 g/mL and an osmolality of approximately 170 mOsm, making it suitable for applications where preservation of biological activity and control of osmotic conditions are important. Each batch is tested for endotoxin levels with a specification of <1.0 EU/mL. OptiPrep™ is available as a 250 mL package under product reference 1893.
