Background
Leptin is involved in the signaling pathway that regulates the size of the body fat depot. An increase in the level of leptin may act directly or indirectly on the CNS to inhibit food intake and/or regulate energy expenditure as part of a homeostatic mechanism to maintain constancy of the adipose mass. Defects in the leptin gene may be a cause of autosomal recessive obesity.

Applications Notes
ELISA: (direct and indirect: 1:5,000-1:10,000) . Western Blot: (1:5,000-1:10,000 using ECL. Suggested blocking and dilution buffer is TBST containing 0.05% Tween 20 and 5% skim milk. Suggested incubation time is 1 hour at room temperature) . Optimal conditions must be determined individually for each application.
