Giberrelic Acid (GA3)

  • Description:

Gibberellic acid (GA) is a crucial plant hormone that plays a significant role in various plant growth and development stages. Structurally, it is a tetracyclic di-terpenoid compound.
  • Synonyms:

    GA3, Gibberellin A3
  • HS Code:

    2932.2
  • Applications:

It has a role in cell division and elongation of tissues in cultures. In some plants, including Arabidopsis and peas, it helps in seed germination. It’s supplemented with growth media like Murashige and Skoog media for the proper development of young leaves and stems. GA3 influences grain development and can enhance fruit size and crop production in grapes and oranges. It’s essential for the flowering of plants. The barley malting industry utilizes GA to stimulate the growth of dormant barley kernels. It’s also used for agricultural and home gardening uses.
  • Assay Protocol:

Follow the given steps to prepare the tissue culture media using PCT’s Gibberellic acid powder: Prepare liquid tissue culture media using PCT’s MS, DKW media, or any other alternative media. Add sugar based on the quantity of media you’re making (generally for 1-liter media 30 grams of sugar is added), 1 ml/L PPM, and 3-4 grams per liter of gellan gum or 6-8 grams per liter of agar. Then, add the desired quantity of the plant hormone from the prepared PGR’s stock solution. Autoclave the medium for 20 minutes at 15 psi and 121°C.
