Dihydrocortisol is a metabolite of hydrocortisone (cortisol) and a potential mineralocorticoid with inhibitory effects on Human cell line HEK293. It can elevate intraocular pressure by enhancing glucocorticoid activity and induce apoptosis in breast cancer cells.

It is a 17alpha-hydroxy-C21-steroid, a primary alpha-hydroxy ketone, a tertiary alpha-hydroxy ketone, a 3-oxo-5beta-steroid, a triol, a 21-hydroxy steroid, an 11beta-hydroxy steroid, a secondary alcohol, a 20-oxo steroid and a diketone.
