Description
Maresin 1 is a specialized pro-resolving mediator biosynthesized by macrophages, demonstrating potent anti-inflammatory and pro-resolving actions. It attenuates LPS-induced lung injury in murine models by inhibiting neutrophil adhesion and reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines, while also stimulating intracellular Ca2+ signaling. (7R,14S)-dihydroxy-(4Z,8E,10E,12Z,16Z,19Z)-docosahexaenoic acid is a dihydroxydocosahexaenoic acid that is (4Z,8E,10E,12Z,16Z,19Z)-docosahexaenoic acid in which the two hydroxy substituents are located at the 7R- and 14S-positions. It has a role as a specialised pro-resolving mediator, a hepatoprotective agent, an anti-inflammatory agent and a human xenobiotic metabolite. It is a secondary allylic alcohol and a dihydroxydocosahexaenoic acid. It is functionally related to an all-cis-docosa-4,7,10,13,16,19-hexaenoic acid.
