Description
β-Galactosidase (GAL) is a glycoside hydrolase enzyme that cleaves β-galactosidic linkages, primarily in lactose. It is widely used in research for producing lactose-free products and as a model enzyme in molecular biology, with applications in both in vitro assays and in vivo studies of gene expression and metabolism.
