Description
2,3-Diphosphoglyceric acid (2,3-DPG) is a glycolytic intermediate that acts as a key allosteric effector of hemoglobin. By binding to deoxygenated hemoglobin, it lowers oxygen affinity and enhances tissue oxygen delivery. This small molecule is utilized in vitro for studying hemoglobin function, oxygen dissociation kinetics, and cellular responses to hypoxia.
