GK563 is a potent and selective inhibitor of Ca2+-independent phospholipase A2 GVIA (iPLA2β), with a 1 nM IC50 and >20,000-fold selectivity over GIVA cPLA2. It protects pancreatic β-cells from cytokine-induced apoptosis in vitro, highlighting its utility for researching autoimmune diabetes and inflammatory pathways.
