Description
PAF (C16) is a phospholipid mediator and PAFR ligand that potently activates MAPK/MEK/ERK pathways to increase vascular permeability. It exhibits anti-apoptotic and anti-inflammatory activities in vitro by inhibiting caspase-dependent apoptosis. This molecule is widely used in vascular biology, inflammation, and signal transduction research, with applications in both in vitro and in vivo experimental models.

Platelet-activating factor

2-O-acetyl-1-O-hexadecyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine is a 2-acetyl-1-alkyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine betaine which has hexadecyl as the alkyl group. PAF is a potent phospholipid activator and mediator of many leukocyte functions, including platelet aggregation, inflammation, and anaphylaxis. It has a role as a beta-adrenergic antagonist, a vasodilator agent, an antihypertensive agent, a bronchoconstrictor agent and a hematologic agent.
