S- (+) -Ketoprofen is the active enantiomer of the NSAID ketoprofen, functioning as a cyclo-oxygenase (COX) inhibitor to block prostaglandin synthesis and provide both peripheral and central analgesic effects. It is widely used in pharmacological research to study inflammation and pain mechanisms in both in vitro enzyme assays and in vivo animal models of nociception and edema.
