Gossypin is a glycosyloxyflavone that is gossypetin attached to a beta-D-glucopyranosyl residue at position 8 via a glycosidic linkage. It has a role as a neuroprotective agent and a plant metabolite. It is a pentahydroxyflavone, a glycosyloxyflavone, a 7-hydroxyflavonol and a monosaccharide derivative. It is functionally related to a gossypetin.
