Human Galectin-1 Protein

Galectin-1, a member of the galactose lectin family, is a homodimer with a molecular weight of 14 kDa subunits and six cysteine residues per subunit. Cysteine residues should be in a free state to maintain a molecular structure capable of displaying lectin activity. The expression or overexpression of Galectin-1 in tumor and/or peritumor tissues is considered a biomarker for the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of malignant tumor. It is involved in the adhesion and migration of tumor cells, cell transformation, tumor cell transfer and invasion to surrounding normal tissues, tumor angiogenesis, tumor growth and tumor immune escape.Regulates T cells, B cells, macrophages, granulocytes and other immune cells. Galectin-1 also acts as a potent homeostatic signal, which, along with other anti-inflammatory mediators and RAMP, limits immunopathology. Including: 1) inhibition of acute inflammation; 2) inhibition of T cell-mediated autoimmune diseases; 3) improve graft-versus-host disease; 4) Characterize the immune response in favor of Th2 type

Lyophilized recombinant Human Galectin-1 protein product should be stored desiccated below -20°C. Upon reconstitution, the protein should be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days and for future use below -20°C. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) . Please prevent freeze-thaw cycles.

The recombinant Human Galectin-1 consists of 135 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 14 kDa.
