CXCL15

  • Description:

CXCL15/Lungkine, also named WECHE, is a member of the ELR motif-containing CXC chemokines. Lungkine is a CXC chemokine that is expressed in lung epithelial cells and, to a lesser extent, in certain fetal tissues. No human homolog has been identified and a specific cell surface receptor has not yet been found. Lungkine expression in lung tissue is elevated in response to inflammation, at which time it acts to specifically recruit neutrophils and direct them into the lung airway. Recombinant murine Lungkine is a 16.3 kDa CXC chemokine consisting of 142 amino acid residues, including four conserved cysteine residues present in CXC chemokines.
