CD39

  • Description:

Ectonucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase 1 (CD39) is a surface protein of the ATPase group. CD39 is mainly produced in activated lymphocytes and endothelial cells. Isoform 1 and isoform 3 are found in the placenta and umbilical cord, whereas isoform 2 is found only in the placenta. It is involved in purinergic signal transduction by hydrolysis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to adenosine monophosphate (AMP) and two phosphates or of adenosine diphosphate to AMP and phosphate. It is glycosylated and palmitoylated. CD39 is a homodimer with disulfide bridge-connected subunits. Divalent magnesium ions are a cofactor.
