Intelectin-1, also known as omentin or intestinal lactoferrin receptor, is an intelectin encoded in humans by the ITLN1 gene. It is mapped to 1q23.3. Intelectin-1 functions both as a receptor for bacterial arabinogalactans and for lactoferrin. Having conserved ligand binding site residues, both human and mouse intelectin-1 bind the exocyclic vicinal diol of carbohydrate ligands such as galactofuranose.

Aviva's human Omentin/intelectin-1 ELISA Kit is based on standard sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. A monoclonal antibody from mouse specific for Omentin/intelectin-1 has been precoated onto 96-well plates. Standards (Expression system for standard: NS0, Immunogen sequence: T19-S298) and test samples are added to the wells, a biotinylated detection polyclonal antibody from goat specific for Omentin/intelectin-1 is added subsequently and then followed by washing with PBS or TBS buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex is added and unbound conjugates are washed away with PBS or TBS buffer. HRP substrate TMB are used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB is catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The absorbance of yellow is proportional to the human Omentin/intelectin-1 amount of sample captured in plate.
