-
FormSupplied as a liquid in PBS. No stabilizing proteins added. No preservative added. Labeled with fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC). Also available with BSA & Azide. See H6098-23A.
-
Storage_stabilityMay be stored at 4 degree C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, aliquot and add glycerol (40-50%). Freeze at -20 degree C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20 degree C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
-
Tested_applicationFlow Cytometry (FC/FACS), Immunofluorescence (IF)

DescriptionAntigens are peptides or recombinant or native dependent on the production method. Sodium azide NaN3 is often used to prevent antibody degradation in 0,02% W/V concentrations. MyBioSource supplies azide free antibodies on request.
-
PropertiesThis MyBioSource Fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) antibody is currently after some BD antibodies the most commonly used fluorescent dye for FACS. When excited at 488 nanometers, FITC has a green emission that's usually collected at 530 nanometers, the FL1 detector of a FACSCalibur or FACScan. FITC has a high quantum yield (efficiency of energy transfer from absorption to emission fluorescence) and approximately half of the absorbed photons are emitted as fluorescent light. For fluorescent microscopy applications, the 1 FITC is seldom used as it photo bleaches rather quickly though in flow cytometry applications, its photo bleaching effects are not observed due to a very brief interaction at the laser intercept. MyBioSource FITC is highly sensitive to pH extremes.

ConceptScope note: Testing erythrocytes to determine presence or absence of blood-group antigens, testing of serum to determine the presence or absence of antibodies to these antigens, and selecting biocompatible blood by crossmatching samples from the donor against samples from the recipient. Crossmatching is performed prior to transfusion.
