DescriptionThe research-grade biosimilar is a humanized IgG4 monoclonal antibody that targets IL-17α and prevents the interaction with its receptor (IL-17R), thus blocking IL-17α mediated inflammatory and immune responses. IL-17α is known to play an important role in autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and plaque psoriasis. The monoclonal antibody is produced in CHO cells using recombinant DNA technology. It consists of two identical light chains of 219 amino acids each and two identical heavy chains of 445 amino acids each. The original drug was developed by Eli Lily and received approval from the FDA for the treatment of adults suffering from moderate-to-severe psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis
