Human MCP-2 (CCL8) Recombinant

  • Background:

Monocyte chemotactic protein MCP-2 is a C-C chemokine. It shares over 60% amino acid identity with MCP-1 and MCP-3 and has about 30% identity with other C-C chemokines MIP-1alpha, RANTES, and MIP-1beta. MCP-2 is chemotactic for and activates a wide variety of inflammatory cells, and its spectrum of action on leukocytes is similar to that of MCP-3, including monocytes, T lymphocytes, NK cells, basophils, mast cells, and eosinophils, but differs from MCP-1, which is not active on eosinophils. MCP-2 has been proposed to interact with multiple C-C chemokine receptors, including those used by MCP- 1 and MCP-3. However, since leukocytes express a multiplicity of chemokine receptors with promiscuous binding and functional properties, it is difficult to identify the receptors used by a given ligand on these cells.
  • Description:

Recombinant MCP-2 is a disulfide-linked monomeric protein consisting of 77 amino acid residues and migrates as an approximately 9 kDa protein under non-reducing conditions and reducing conditions in SDS-PAGE. Optimized DNA sequence encoding human MCP-2 (CCL8) mature chain was expressed inE. coli.
  • UniProt:

    P80075
  • Endotoxin:

    < 0.1 ng/µg (1 EU/µg), using the LAL gel clot method.
  • Purity:

    ≥ 98% by SDS-PAGE and HPLC
  • Format:

    Lyophilized protein
  • Reconstitution:

Reconstitute at 0.1-1.0 mg/ml in distilled water. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers. To maximize product collection from vial surface, vortex briefly and then spin down to recollect the liquid.
  • Shipping Conditions:

    Gel Packs or Dry Ice
  • Storage Conditions:

The lyophilized protein is stable for at least 2 years from date of receipt when stored at -20°C. Upon reconstitution, store in working aliquots at +4°C for up to one month, or at -20°C for up to six months, in the presence of a carrier protein. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
  • Calculated Molecular Weight:

    9 kDa
  • Formulation:

Lyophilized from a 0.2 µm filtered 20 mM Phosphate buffer, 100 mM NaCl, pH 7.5.
