6-(γ,γ-Dimethylallylamino) purine (2iP)
- Description: 6-(γ,γ-Dimethylallylamino) Purine (2iP) is a plant growth promoter belonging to the group of cytokinin hormones.
- Synonyms: 2iP; N6-(2-Isopentyl)adenine
- CAS Number: 2365-40-4
- HS Code: 2933.59
- Applications: Micropropagation or tissue culture for rapid plant multiplication Promoting callus development Overcoming apical dominance Delaying senescence
- Assay Protocol: Follow the given steps to prepare the tissue culture media using PCT’s 2iP powder: Prepare liquid tissue culture media using PCT’s MS or DKW media, or any other alternative media. Add sugar based on the quantity of media you’re making (for 1-liter media 30 grams of sugar is added), 1 ml/L PPM, and 3-4 grams per liter of gellan gum or 6-8 grams per liter of agar. Then, add the desired quantity of the 2iP from the prepared 2iP stock solution. Autoclave the medium for 20 minutes at 15 psi and 121°C. Your media is ready!
- Solubility: Soluble in NaOH or KOH
- Molecular Formula: C10H13N5
- Molecular Weight: 203.24 g/mol
- Features & Benefits: Use to supplement tissue culture media, such as MS media. Triggers cell division, leading to the multiplication of plant cells. 2iP helps maintain the health and activity of the shoot apical meristem (SAM) 2iP can disrupt this dominance by promoting the outgrowth of lateral buds, resulting in bushier plant growth. 2iP can help delay the onset of senescence.
- Storage Temperature: -20°C
- Shelf Life: 3 years from the manufacturing date
- Appearance: White to Yellow Powder
- Suitability: Passes for Tissue Culture
