Germacrone

  Germacrone is isolated from turmeric and has anti-influenza virus, anti-cancer, and neuroprotective activity. Germacrone inhibits the proliferation of human hepatoma cell lines by downregulating CDK1 and Bcl-2/Bcl-xl and upregulating p21 and Bax, leading to cell cycle arrest in the G2/M phase and apoptosis. Germacrone targets H1N1 and H3N2 influenza A viruses as well as influenza B viruses, significantly reducing viral titers in the lungs in animal models[1][2][3].
