Background

Q-VD-OPh is a broad-spectrum caspase inhibitor for non-toxic inhibition of apoptosis. It is more stable in aqueous environments and exhibits higher activity than widely used inhibitors ZVAD-FMK and Boc-D-FMK. Q-VD-OPh is equally effective at inhibiting the three major apoptotic cascades: caspase 9/3, caspase 8/10, and caspase 12. It inhibits recombinant caspases 1,3, 8, and 9 with IC50 values ranging from 25 to 400 nM. It inhibits caspases 7,10, and 12 with an IC50 of 10 µM.

Second generation, irreversible, broad-spectrum caspase inhibitor that is non-toxic, cell permeable, and penetrates the blood-brain barrier.

Solubility

≥ 26.35 mg/mL in DMSO; insoluble in H2O; ≥ 97.4 mg/mL in EtOH. For obtaining a higher solubility, please warm the tube at 37°C and shake it in the ultrasonic bath for a while.
